Nearly fifty years ago, a brilliant spark
lit up minds to create a way to fund extra opportunities and program boosts that the Washburn Rural High School budget couldn't cover and the Blues Backers PTO was formed.
What began in 1975 as a Booster Club
has transformed into a fully formed non-profit, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 Charitable Organization. As such, substantial donations are tax deductible. We are also obligated to keep detailed accounting, act according to written bylaws, recognize elected leadership, and maintain reasonable transparency in records and actions of the Board.
Our Mission Objectives:
To help WRHS establish and maintain a proud image by supporting staff and students’ extracurricular activities.
The PTO contributes volunteer time and money to Washburn Rural High School as requested and approved by the Board.
The PTO offers WRHS teams, clubs, and activity groups additional opportunities to generate funds through the concession stands.

Each year we create a safe, engaging environment that minimizes risky behaviors and maximizes joy. One night can change lives, so we help make it a night to remember for all the right reasons.
Above all, Post Prom is a uniquely fun WaRu Tradition that our students (and parents) look forward to each year.
